Review Policy

Reviews are one of the most important signals on GoTopRated. This policy explains who can leave a review, what we allow and don't allow, and how we work to keep reviews genuine.

Who Can Leave a Review

Reviews may only be submitted by customers who have contacted or engaged a provider through GoTopRated, or who can otherwise demonstrate a genuine service relationship with the business being reviewed.

Providers may not review their own business, their competitors, or ask friends, family, or employees to post reviews on their behalf.

Review Guidelines

A good review is honest, specific, and based on a real experience. When writing a review, please:

  • Describe your actual experience with the service provided.
  • Keep feedback relevant to the work, pricing, communication, or professionalism.
  • Avoid sharing other people's personal information.
  • Avoid offensive, discriminatory, or abusive language.

Prohibited Content

We remove reviews that:

  • Are fabricated, exaggerated, or not based on a genuine transaction.
  • Were exchanged for payment, discounts, or other incentives without disclosure.
  • Contain hate speech, threats, or harassment.
  • Are posted by a provider about a competitor.
  • Contain confidential, unrelated, or promotional content.

How Reviews Are Moderated

Every review is screened by automated checks for spam and policy violations before publishing. Reviews flagged by our systems, or reported by a provider or another user, are additionally checked by our moderation team.

We do not remove a review simply because a provider disagrees with it or requests its removal. Reviews are only removed if they violate this policy.

Business Responses to Reviews

Verified providers may publicly respond to reviews left on their listing. Responses must follow the same guidelines as reviews and may not disclose a reviewer's personal information.

Reporting a Review

If you believe a review violates this policy — whether it's fake, incentivized, or abusive — you can report it directly from the listing page or by contacting us. We will investigate and take action where appropriate.

Review Authenticity & Fraud Prevention

We use a combination of automated detection and manual review to identify patterns associated with fake reviews, such as unusual submission activity, duplicate content, or coordinated posting. Accounts found to be posting fraudulent reviews may be suspended.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Review Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
